ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER
Art Auction for Old Growth
What is the Art Auction for Old Growth?
The Art Auction for Old Growth (AAOG) is a unique national online fundraiser that brings together leading contemporary Canadian artists, supporters, and bidders from across the country for an impactful annual event in support of old-growth forest protection.
Founded by artist and activist Kyle Scheurmann and held annually in the Fall, AAOG has, since 2022, been led by the artists themselves, who generously donate their artwork to drive conservation impact. To date, over 50 artists have contributed significant pieces, including many whose works are featured in major galleries and collections across Canada, using their platforms and creative practices to raise awareness and mobilize support for the protection of some of the country’s most iconic and endangered ecosystems.
The auction is now live until September 24, 2026! Check out the artwork and bid today at givergy.ca/aaog
Auction Impact
Since its inception, the Art Auction for Old Growth has raised nearly $115,000, with 100% of the proceeds directed to our flagship Old-Growth Solutions Initiative, which focuses on safeguarding endangered ancient forests and supporting the establishment of Indigenous Protected & Conserved Areas (IPCAs) alongside several First Nations across British Columbia.
Funds raised through the auction have contributed to landmark projects such as the proposed Kanaka Bar IPCA and the Salmon Parks Initiative, including strategic land acquisitions that secured ecologically and culturally significant areas for long-term protection under First Nations stewardship. To learn more about these initiatives and their impact, visit our Old-Growth Solutions Initiative page and our featured project pages for Kanaka Bar and Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nations.
How to Get Involved
The Art Auction for Old Growth is returning for its fifth edition in September 2026! To celebrate the occasion, we will be hosting two free in-person events for the first time. Both gallery-style events will feature talks from select artists participating in the Art Auction for Old Growth as well as their artwork, bidding opportunities, food, drinks, and even raffle prizes, courtesy of our friends at Patagonia. The Nature-Based Solutions Foundation team will also be present at both events, so make sure you come say hi!

Artist Reflections
I want to make the job of conservationists and land stewards as easy as possible. That means building awareness and raising funds to help make their critical work possible.
British Columbia’s old-growth forests aren’t just important to BC – they’re vital to the health of the entire planet. As an artist living in Ontario, I see their protection as a beautiful act of care that echoes through the whole system.
I’ve always seen art as a medium through which to communicate bigger ideas. With the existential threat posed by climate change and extinction looming over us all, it’s an important time for art. Because we preserve that which we revere.
