Job Opportunity: Communications & Research Officer
Full-time/approximately 2-month summer contract: 35 hours a week (may vary week to week); This position has flexible hours. Schedules can be adjusted for the best mutual fit.
$23 an hour

The Nature-Based Solutions Foundation (NBSF)
Founded by some of western Canada’s most experienced conservationists, NBSF is a national organization with a mission to protect the most endangered ecosystems in Canada. To this end, we work to create new protected areas by collaborating with communities and filling key conservation funding gaps. Position overview
NBSF is seeking a candidate who is passionate about nature protection and has an appetite for researching and communicating to diverse audiences. With support from the NBSF team, the successful candidate will contribute to various NBSF campaigns and projects while also assisting with day-to-day team operations. Responsibilities will include conducting research on conservation issues, trends, and communications best practices, subsequently applying these findings to help develop a variety of communications materials, including for the organization’s annual Canada-wide Art Auction for Old Growth. This person will also occasionally investigate prospective partners and conservation allies. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to and interest in conservation.
Skills and experience:
Strong research abilities
Persuasive and engaging writing abilities
Experience creating communications or marketing materials using Canva or Photoshop
Motivated by problem-solving and exploring complex ideas
Organized and reliable
Comfortable navigating and updating databases
Detail oriented
Passion for nature and familiarity with environmental issues through education, employment, or personal interest
Responsibilities:
Conduct research on topics to support organizational development, including on best practices, diverse funders, communications strategies, and more
Support the creation of social media and communications materials for the Art Auction for Old Growth
Follow trends in conservation funding
Record and organize key findings in databases and files (when applicable) with a high level of accuracy
