Geneviève Lalonde
ABOUT GENEVIÈVE
Geneviève grew up on her family’s Red Angus farm, on the banks of the Nation River in the Ottawa Valley. Throughout her childhood, she was taught about the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the hard work required to steward these lands. Upon graduating high school, she moved across the country to Whistler to snowboard, where she (immediately!) decided to live in British Columbia permanently.
Guided by her dual interests in environmental systems and socio-cultural issues, Geneviève pursued an undergraduate degree in Geography, Environment & Sustainability at the University of British Columbia. During this time, she developed a strong interest in Environmental Impact Assessment and water management. She also holds an MFRE Environmental Metrics for Sustainability Reporting Micro-Certificate from UBC Forestry, further strengthening her technical foundation in environmental measurement and communication.
Following her studies, Geneviève moved to the United Kingdom, where she began a career in event planning. Upon her return to Canada, Geneviève continued to grow her experience in the events industry, planning multiple community festivals, conferences, and other public-facing initiatives in the Vancouver area. Now as the Development and Communications Officer at the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation, Geneviève is excited to apply her background in event planning and business development and make a real impact in the conservation space.
When she is not doing research and outreach for NBSF, Geneviève can be found snowboarding in BC’s Coast Mountains, reading, or losing at Catan!
